STUDENTS CELEBRATE HOPES FOR THEIR FUTURE
AS THEY POST A DREAM VIDEO

Share the Dream

Share the Dream with us – and everyone! – by posting your own unique dream video on YouTube. This is for schools and school districts (starting or ending the school year, or as part of a school project or theme), graduating classes, families, young and old – everyone who has a dream! The idea is simple…

Hopes and dreams shape your life – and they can change the world. Just think of those four famous words, "I have a dream…" Whether you've achieved a life milestone
like a graduation, are starting something new, are looking for inspiration, want to make a difference, or are even facing a challenge in your life, everyone needs the hope you can find in a dream. From the personal wishes you make on the night stars to the people and achievements that inspire you, be creative and celebrate the power of dreams.

We've been inspired by a school district in Texas, where students, teachers, administrators, and volunteers all came together to do a creative reading of the award-winning bestseller Dream: A Tale of Wonder, Wisdom & Wishes by Susan V. Bosak. Dream is one of those books that touches hearts and minds. Says The Bloomsbury Review, "This elegant book depicts the journey of life – from infancy to older adulthood – highlighting all the hopes and dreams found along the way... Inspirational quotes from people such as Martin Luther King Jr, Sir Edmund Hillary, and Emily Dickinson are set alongside gorgeous illustrations by internationally acclaimed artists. Richly crafted and thoughtfully written, Dream is a dazzling project that challenges us to find a dream and follow it."

Here's their video:

Dream Reading Video

Now YOU can post your own Dream video inspired by the Dream book. Add your unique creativity and personality – and most importantly, add YOUR DREAMS. Your dream can be a goal you have for yourself or your family, or a hope you have for your community and our world.

Here are just some ideas for your Dream video:

  • Do your own reading of Dream with a different person or groups of people reading passages from Dream (i.e. text and quotations). After the line "Dream a dream with me" on each page, each person adds "My dream is…" and shares their dream.

  • For a large group, one person can read a page from Dream, and there can be a subgroup of people standing around the reader who then each share their dreams before moving on to the next page, with a new subgroup and their dreams.

  • Add a twist to a reading, maybe making it into a rap or doing some dramatic acting (e.g. dress up as the historical figures in the quotations).

  • Add music (e.g. a different song or style of music for each page you read) or do a dance.

  • Add your own artwork. Each person can hold up a Dream Star they've made. Or, at the end of a reading, people can share their dreams by creating The Next Page in the book.

  • Make it intergenerational by students sharing their dreams, and then teachers, parents, and grandparents sharing dreams for themselves and their children and grandchildren.

For schools and families, you can Share the Dream as part of a school theme or Begin and End With a Dream.

For graduating classes from elementary school to university, Share the Dream is a way for students to look to their future while creating a legacy video of their graduating class. Students, parents, and grandparents will all enjoy viewing the video. Each graduate participates in the reading and shares their dream. This video will become a lasting keepsake, and something everyone will enjoy now and at future class reunions. So, PTA/PTOs and school grad committees, use Share the Dream as a unique way to honor and celebrate your graduates. We also have a special discount available on Dream if your school gives a gift to each student.

Get creative and Share the Dream with us on our YouTube channel. You're never too young or too old to dream! And the world needs more Dreamers – because they're the people with the creativity and courage to make a difference.
